Learn how to capture the essence of a subject with simplicity and spontaneity using traditional sumi brushes and black ink. We’ll begin with a demo of the very meditative process of making ink on a grinding stone and move on to the brush strokes that will evoke the spirit of our subject!

Today we’ll do a study of the master Huang Shen’s glorious painting using the sumi-e technique on canvas.
